Open Cell VS Closed Cell?

Open-cell is a low density polyurethane foam that is great for roof decks, ceilings, walls, floors and all above grade applications. It is light weight fluffy and cost effective when applicable. With a R-value ranging from 3-4 per inch a minimum of 3" is recommended for best results. Closed-cell is a high density polyurethane foam that is great for almost all applications and provides up to a class II vapor retarder. It is great for steel structures, below grade applications, and everything else in between. With an R-value ranging from 6-8 per inch a minimum of 1" is recommended for best results. Both are great ways to insulate and air seal your next project!
